Maybe I understand how to work with therapy resistant teens because I was one but the teenagers that push buttons and refuse to speak with therapists are some of my favorite people to spend time with. Does you 10-18 year old have an existing diagnosis or Conduct Disorder or Oppositional Defiance Disorder? If so, traditional therapy probably won’t work for them as well as therapeutic coaching can. Using a combination of interactive therapy (play therapy, film therapy, video game therapy (it’s a thing)), dialectical behavioral therapy skills, and acceptance therapy, I can usually reach through the hardest exteriors and help adolescents and teens find peace with who they are and how to achieve their personal goals.
